The Lion Dialysis Foundation Trust was founded in December 2011 by members of lions club Hanumanthnagar with the sole objective of providing financial assistance to dialysis patients. Kidney failure is a longlife disease, dialysis is something that patients need to undergo week after week for duration of their life time. Families are brought to financial ruin funding the expenses incurred with the full knowledge that they are spending not on a cure but simply maintenance.
The trust realized the extremely difficult times patients and there families go through and aims to spread awareness of their condition among potential donors and acts as a bridge between donors and the people who need this assistance. We have established six bed dialysis centre in hanumanth nagar to support monthly 250 dialysis under subsidice programme.
Dialysis is an expensive process. A session of hemodialysis costs between Rs. 800 to Rs. 3,000 depending on the centre it is being done in. Patients need to undergo this session twice or thrice a week. Considering this, the monthly expenses of dialysis alone run into several thousands rupees. Added to this, most dialysis patients have a few other complications such as anemia and cardiovascular problems. Due to this, they need a host of other medications, the most important one being erythropoietin injections which help the body maintain the blood counts at a reasonable level. This injections which help the body maintain the blood counts at a reasonable level. This injection costs between Rs. 800 to Rs. 1,200 in market.
The trust has now a six bed dialysis centre. The trust aims to provide dialysis to needy patients at subsidised cost of Rs. 700 and the rest of the cost born by the trust.
The trust can also tied up with leading manufacturers of everthropoietin and iron injections ad supplies them at Rs. 240 and Rs. 70 currently and other dialysis consumable at affordable prices. The trust has a team of dedicated Neprologists & Technicians to help us in the centre. The trustees maintains strict checks on the centre and that to make sure the quality of dialysis is maintained and see that our Lions image is maintained.
With an active support by our donors we have six dialysis machines & necessary infrastructures has been established in the centre to carry out quality dialysis.
